LOTTA MUNSCHA Laura Jaye
Five beloved Robert Munsch stories (Stephanie’s Ponytail, Down the Drain,
Aaron’s Hair, Jonathan Cleaned Up, then He Heard A Sound [or Blackberry Subway Jam] and The Sandcastle Contest) are brought to life (and music) by two very competitive girls and their able accompanist "Ace", necessitating some fast changes, vibrant colours, and loads of imagination.
Director Carole Higgins handed me gold with such versatile performers who could take little more than a hat or apron or a wig and transform it into a character, Benjamin Elliott often performed changes while seated at the piano... playing!
Bright hospital scrubs became the basis for the costumes, skirts were attached to coats and children's tutus and dresses became bell bottoms all in keeping with the dress-up "let's put on a show" nature of Munscha Mia!
